A definition poem is one that describes a term without explicitly stating it:
Hope is a tissue, wiping away your problems and fears.
Hope is a a bright sun ray warming your heart and soul.
Hope is a tattered teddy bear. hugging your tears, making them tears of joy.
Hope is a striving flower in a dried and silty ground.
Hope is a butterfly fluttering around a gardon of weeds.
Hope is a twinkling star in a sky of black clouds.
An alphabet poem is a poem with no certain rhyme scheme that has a word beginning with each letter of the alphabet:
If your topic was ANIMALS, your poem would look something like
Alligator
Bat
Cat
Dog
etc.
A sensory poem is when you choose a topic and answer five questions including it sounds like, it smells like, it looks like, it tastes like,and finally what your emotions feel like
